Shared Delight

duì · Lake over Lake

Choose gladness you can stand behind tomorrow.

The judgment

亨。利貞。

Joy opens the way when it rests on what is right. Like two lakes feeding each other, people gladden one another through honest exchange. Pleasure without integrity quickly sours.

The six lines

初九:和兌,吉。

Gladness that comes from inner harmony, asking nothing of anyone. This is a good place to start.

Line 2 · Yang

九二:孚兌,吉,悔亡。

Joy rooted in sincerity is good, and regret falls away.

Line 3 · Yin

Line 4 · Yang

九四:商兌,未寧,介疾有喜。

You weigh which pleasures to accept and cannot settle. Keep a firm line against what harms you, and there is reason for gladness.

Line 5 · Yang

You place trust in what is wearing you away. That is dangerous, so be careful whom you trust.

Line 6 · Yin

上六:引兌。

You are drawn along by pleasure, led to joy by someone else's pull. Notice who is doing the leading.
